Maitland City Council"s aquatic centres play an integral role in the LGA’s leisure and recreation service offering with over 185,000 visits to Council"s centres each year. With two centres located in Maitland and East Maitland, the facilities offer a combination of indoor and outdoor pools, an aquatic playground and children wading pools, viewing grandstands and park areas, making the centres a popular leisure, play, education and fitness destination for the region.
About the role
Our Aquatics Officer roles call for enthusiastic and experienced Learn to Swim teachers and Aqua Fitness Instructors to join our team for the upcoming Winter season (up to September 2021). It’s one role but it’s a whole lot of opportunity for the right candidates to gain experience across our wide range of aquatic facility operations including water safety, fitness programs, pool lifeguarding and kiosk services!
We have a number of casual opportunities available and offer three tiers of remuneration based on the qualifications, skills and experience you will bring to the team. We also provide training opportunities for our staff and encourage career development and cross-skilling across a number of functions at the centres. This role requires you to provide superior customer service whilst assisting with daily operations and supporting the Duty Managers and Aquatics Team to provide a clean, safe and fun facility for our patrons as well as emergency rescue/first aid techniques and services.
You will possess a AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate and/or AUSTSWIM WETS Aqua Instructor Certificate and/or RLSSA Pool Lifeguard Licence, current First Aid and CPR and have a current NSW WWCC. Further, you will have knowledge and/or previous experience in an aquatic environment. We are looking for well-rounded and experienced aquatic professionals as well as entry level staff that we can help grow.
You will be available to work long and short shifts at the Maitland Aquatic Centre over a 7-day roster period (Monday to Sunday, including public holidays). This is an excellent opportunity for motivated and positive individuals to become part of our energetic team.
The base hourly rate for these casual roles will range from $26.2922 to $32.4374 (plus superannuation) dependant on your experience and skill levels across our various aquatic functions. In addition, you will also receive 25% casual loading plus weekend penalty rates (where applicable).
