About the Role:

The Assistant Accountant is a great opportunity to join Woodside’s Financial Services function and support a range of accounting activities. You will work closely with various finance teams through delivery of timely and accurate accounting transactions.



 



The role supports the timely processing and delivery of finance transactions across multiple areas, which may include: banking, costing, accounts receivable, fixed assets, joint venture accounting, management accounting, financial accounting, and general ledger reconciliations.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Working from our state-of-the-art building in Perth CBD, you will work closely with various finance teams, supporting transactional activities. Typical duties and responsibilities will include:



 




  • Ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines;

  • Ensuring work is compliant with all statutory requirements, including tax and audit compliance and Woodside Code of Conduct; and

  • Ensure effective record keeping and audit trail of business records and communications.


Skills & Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will need demonstrated experience in an accounting / finance / bookkeeping capacity.



Accounting qualifications are not mandatory, although you may be studying towards an accounting qualification. A working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP is of benefit.



 



Ideally you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:



 




  • Banking – processing of scheduled and urgent payment runs, processing manual payment requests, management of bank reconciliations including electronic bank statement maintenance, receipting and matching of incoming and outgoing funds, manual journal postings, open item management, and general ledger reconciliations;

  • Accounts Receivable – execution of end to end process including invoice request form validation and processing, management of aged open items, debtor follow-up, and preparation of payment plans;

  • Costing – validation and creation of cost object master data (projects, WBS, orders), changes to cost object master data, closing out of cost objects, management and monitoring of generic inbox including query resolution, reporting, corrections and governance for employees and third-party contractors;

  • Fixed Assets – creation of asset master data, maintenance of monthly production master data, preparation of monthly Fixed Assets documents (e.g. reconciliation and capitalisation listing) and posting of asset revaluations;

  • Joint Venture Accounting – generation of joint venture billing and cash statements, preparation of cutback and billable transaction listing to expenditure statement reconciliations and joint venture partner financial statements and assisting with equity group close out;

  • Management Accounting – preparation of accruals, cost allocations, tariff journals, general journals, cash calls, and secondee invoicing, governance of commitments, preparation of expenditure reports e.g. actuals versus budget or forecast, preparation of variance analysis;

  • Financial Accounting – preparation and upload of month end journals, customer invoicing, preparation of monthly workbooks e.g. tax and excise, survey data extraction and preparation; and

  • General Ledger Reconciliations – preparation of all balance sheet reconciliations including supporting data and evidence.
