AUS-Sydney Accountant Job at PayPal




We?re currently looking for an Accountant to work within our finance team on a fixed term contract for 12 months (maternity cover), with a mixture of working from home and office (located in Darlinghurst, Sydney). The job of Accountant is varied and interesting. You?ll support the Financial Control Manager in preparing and maintaining the integrity of the General Ledgers of ANZ. You?ll have responsibility for preparation of local statutory accounts, monitoring of systems and processes, and relationship management with Financial Planning & Analysis, shared services and payroll teams both in ANZ and offshore. The job involves month end duties including management of general ledger entries, balance sheet reporting, reconciliation and controls with a strong focus on staff related costs, revenue for certain divisions, cost centre analysis as well as IFRS 16.



Key Responsibilities:



Financial Reporting (internal and external)





+ Preparation of month end accounts to tight deadlines



+ Maintenance of general ledgers including payroll, IFRS 16 related accounts, and royalties



+ Ensure consistency and accuracy of coding of invoices, expenses and other items



+ Ensure all payroll journals are correctly posted



+ Liaise with the FP&A team to provide details on actual costs vs forecast



+ Prepare schedules for the year-end audit and interim audit



+ Take ownership of cost centre analysis and completion of p/l



+ Preparation of subsidiary statutory accounts





Maintenance, control and integrity of systems and processes





+ Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, such as payroll related accounts, certain accruals and IFRS 16 accounts with differences identified and resolved



+ Ensure compliance with the company delegated authority procedures



+ Ensure adequate control around payroll and the flow of information between the payroll team and Financial control





Relationship Management





+ Develop and maintain internal relationships with the FP&A team (based in Singapore and ANZ), Corporate finance (based in UK), Shared services (ANZ) and Payroll (ANZ).



+ Liaison with auditors at interim and year-end audit, as well as collation of information in this regard





Project work





+ Assist the Financial Control Manager, Corporate finance or the FP&A team with ad hoc project work



+ Involvement in Finance team projects e.g. systems improvement





Continuous improvement





+ Assist current leads on continuous improvement project



+ Occasional presentation of the progress of improvement initiatives



+ Liaising with various stakeholders within the business on identifying improvements



+ Continuous improvement mind-set





Qualifications and Experience required



You?ll be CPA/CA qualified and currently be working in accounting. However, we?re flexible on your background as long as you have experience of preparation of statutory accounts understand the complexities of payroll and payroll related accounts as well as IFRS16. Strong Excel skills are also a must, as is the ability to thrive in a complex, global organisation!
