It’s an exciting time to be a part of Newcrest’s growth journey as we expand our operations both locally and abroad. At Cadia you will play a part in the expansion of our Tier 1 operation developing Cadia into one of the largest, safest, most cost effective and technologically advanced block caving mines in the world. Currently we are undertaking stage three of Cadia’s mine life strategy by further developing our underground mine to include its 3rd panel, as well as increasing our ore handling and processing capability.
As a company we are highly skilled at identifying and turning large-scale deposits into Tier 1 assets with one of the lowest all in sustaining costs in the mining industry. Our extensive experience in block caving, processing, utilising the latest technology and techniques positions us as a world leader in our field.
Operations near and far
Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by winery’s, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.
Employees have access to the area’s wide range of amenities, including a prominent health sector with a modern well-equipped regional hospital, excellent educational facilities, shopping, large selection of sport and recreation options, transport and other services such as childcare.
Who we’re looking for
Reporting into the Superintendent – Training & Systems, the primary purpose of this position is to develop, maintain and improve a best practice approach to delivering training services on site.  This includes supporting our ‘On the Job’ Trainer’s in their training and assessment competency levels and assisting  site in achieving their targets.
Key responsibilities include:
Educating and supporting leaders across operational teams on competency standards, training plans and training services support
Completing training gap analysis against current role descriptions/maintaining competency levels/ skills to self to ensure training and competency standards are met
Conducting first person competency assessments on new equipment
Creating new assessment tools for Newcrest equipment
Conducting and participating in internal and external training audits/maintaining the training budget
Extracting and distributing monthly training reports
Co-ordinating and scheduling contractor training services
Our ideal candidate will have-
Exposure to working on an operational site with various stakeholder groups, with the ability to adjust training styles to meet key business outcomes and manage critical change.
A passion for training and building a high performing and productive work environment.
Previous experience in a leadership role, resource scheduling and co-ordination
Experience in facilitating training sessions or presentations to large and small group
A natural flare for engaging with a variety of stakeholders, including excellentcommunication skills – both oral and written
A current open Drivers Licence
Experience in document writing
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Desirable:
Demonstrated experience with a SAP Learning Management System
Experience in mining operations – underground, surface mining
Cert III in Metalliferous Mining (Underground)
Demonstrated experience in Mining 0r Processing
