Cross Passage Excavation Foreman Melbourne AU Job at John Holland

CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) has been contracted to design and build the tunnels and stations for the Metro Tunnel Project.

 

CYP D&C brings together three of Australias leading construction partners John Holland, Lendlease, and Bouygues Construction.

 

The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.

 

We are currently seeking an experienced Cross Passage Excavation Foreman to join our team. The successful candidate will preferably have proven tunnel experience, experience in Cross Passages in preferred but not essential. We are looking for someone with experience in Civil or FRP works.

This role will be on a rotating day/night shift roster, working 12 hour days from Monday to Friday. The roster will be 2 weeks of day shift followed by 2 weeks of nightshift on rotation. The position will be based in North Melbourne.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

• Coordinate the work and performance of multiple teams and subcontractors to achieve outcomes.


• Provide and take leadership responsibility in health, safety and environment management.


• Contribute to development of work methods and rolling short term construction programs and plan daily/weekly production work.


• Complete progress reporting, and activities, reports for shift handovers and consistent regular reporting to the Site Manager or Project Manager


• Ensure compliance of commercial and financial costs including budgets and the implications of directions within your authority limits


• Manage administrative duties for direct and indirect report requirements


• Review design documentation, read drawings, provide constructive review and oversee implementation of final designs


• Identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and contribute to build a risk management culture.


• Maintain effective consultation with various workers’ representatives and committees on industrial and safety subjects handling issues as they arise and referring major issues to the Project Manager and Site Manager.

 

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you demonstrate the following.

 

• Trade Qualification or similar


• 2-5 Years previous construction experience in a similar role
