Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing
Western Sydney Local Health district Mental Health Services is committed to building a professional workforce that supports consumers in the treatment of and recovery from severe mental health conditions.
The primary purpose of this position is to service the NSW Mental Health Telephone Access Line for Western Sydney callers. This involves being the first point of contact with mental health services, providing information and advice on mental health matters and avenues of assistance, conducting mental health telephone triage assessments to determine mental health and risk of harm concerns, likely assistance required and timeliness of response. This includes processing new referrals for mental health care, referring onto local community mental health teams for assistance, providing support and information to carers and other treatment providers and linking prospective consumers to the most suitable mental health service either within or outside Western Sydney Local Health District.
A primary goal of this position is to ensure fair and equitable access to public mental health services with a particular focus on people experiencing severe mental illness or disorders and to work collaboratively with staff, consumers, carers and other health and social care agencies both within and outside WSLHD.

Qualification: Tertiary qualifications as Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Social Worker
Registration: Demonstrated full registration with AHPRA as Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist; Eligible for membership of AASW for Social Workers
Demonstrated highly developed skills in mental health assessment and care provision.
Ability to work with minimal supervision in managing complex presentations.
Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007.
Demonstrated highly developed communications skills encompassing analysis, problem solving and negotiation.
Experience and expertise in working with people with severe mental health difficulties.
High level customer service skills with the ability to engage, develop and sustain working relationships quickly and effectively.
Computer competence and literacy including the use of healthcare electronic medical record systems.
Ability to participate in a 7 day roster.
