Mental Health Intake Clinician - CAMHS
This position is graded as up to Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Counsellor Level 3 and up to Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2. Candidates who have completed a degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health (Djirruwang Program) may be appointed as a Counsellor Level 3.
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced, motivated mental health clinician to be involved in the pilot of a new centralised intake service for CAMHS. As an intake clinician you will offer triage and intake support services to the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley and Wiyiliin ta CAMHS teams. In addition to working with the Greater Newcastle CAMHS teams, you will work collaboratively with the Mental Health Line in facilitating timely and smooth access for children, young people and their families/carers into the appropriate services.
HNE Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a secondary and tertiary service provider that works in strong partnership with other providers, offering assessment and treatment for children, young people and their families/carers, who are experiencing significant impacts on their functioning and development due to complex or severe mental health problems.
The Mental Health Intake Clinician ensures the timely response and management of referrals into, within and out of the service. The role possesses a high level of autonomy and clinical leadership, ensuring the consumer will have prompt access to specialist mental health care or referral to the most appropriate pathways. This position requires highly developed communication skills to elicit information required for effective triage management, as well as liaison, consultation and education of relevant stakeholders.
An eligibility list will be created for future temporary full or part time vacancies.
To be eligible for employment in these roles you must be: an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia.
If you currently hold a temporary visa that allows you to live and work in Australia you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
