Position Classification: Staff Specialist
Employment Type: Temporary Part Time
Hours Per Week: Up to 4
Duration: Up to 3 years

Purpose of the position
To provide medical leadership to ensure the effective operation of the Osteoporosis Refracture Prevention (ORP) clinic, to provide optimal clinical management of patients attending the clinic, and appropriate clinical supervision of the specialty trainee.
Attend a weekly ORP outpatient clinic to provide senior medical input and leadership
Support to relevant inpatient consulting service as required
Supervision and teaching of junior medical staff
Contribution to research and teaching in ORP and medical specialty.
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.
 
The position is temporary with possibility of extension based on performance, funding and need.
 

 










Selection Criteria

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.

Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Rehabilitation Medicine or Endocrinology or Geriatric Medicine
Training and/or experience in providing medical leadership and clinical input to a osteoporosis re-fracture prevention service in accordance relevant NSW Health guidance
Evidence of effective leadership and collaborative work within a multidisciplinary team environment
Demonstrated commitment to supervision and teaching of prevocational and vocational trainees
Evidence of and commitment to quality improvement methodologies
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
