Research AssociateFellow for Engineering Targeted Delivery Systems
About the opportunity
Reporting to Professor Fariba Dehghani, the Research Associate/Fellow for Engineering a Targeted Delivery Systems, position will conduct research activity focused on the development of advanced technologies to enhance probiotics shelf life and increase their bioactivity. This will involve expertise in microencapsulation technologies, process design and installation, measurement of microbial viability, and in vitro and in vivo models of digestion.

a PhD (or near completion) in pharmaceutical, microbiology and food processing as well as food chemistry (or a closely allied field) from a reputable institution
strong experience in food chemistry and microencapsulation process such as fluidized bed dryer
an outstanding track record in developing novel targeted delivery systems using naturally derived compounds
extensive experience in analytical techniques such as bacteria viability test and flow cytometery.
a demonstrated ability to independently design and budget a research plan
demonstrated research skills together with a proven capacity for independently managing collaborative research projects
experience in research training, including the supervision of honours students
a strong record of achieving research outcomes (including conference and journal publications)
a proven track record of working collaboratively across different research disciplines
excellent communication and interpersonal skills with high level of competency in both written and spoken English
In addition, for the Research Fellow (Level B) position:
experience in successful competitive grants (ARC, NHMRC or equivalent) and professional report
experience in industry collaborative research
track record of product development and commercialisation
experience in supervision of HDRs
more than four years of postdoctoral research experience
The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience and knowledge.
