Appointment Type: Full time fixed-term role (three-year appointment)
Location: Macquarie University, North Ryde
This position is an opportunity to shape and lead a strategic WHS function for the continuous improvement of WHS performance across the Macquarie University Group. The role will provide leadership, specialist advice and solution focussed recommendations to senior leaders and management on health, safety, and rehabilitation matters. The WHS Manager will also lead and manage the WHS team, including coaching, mentoring, and developing the skills of staff to provide high quality WHS advice to managers and supervisors and supporting effective organisational WHS decisions and initiatives.
You will have significant experience in leading a WHS function within a large, complex organisation, with a track record of improving safety culture through leadership, influence and application of effective systems, processes, and compliance controls. You will have strong change management capability with the proven ability to influence outcomes and facilitate consensus among stakeholders. A working knowledge of relevant WHS industry standards and regulations is essential.

Significant experience in leading a WHS function within a large, complex organisation to implement strategies, policies, and projects to embed a best-practice safety culture and safety management system.
Track record of improving safety culture through leadership, influence and application of effective systems, processes, and compliance controls.
Strong change management capability demonstrated in experience driving a safety transformation journey at organisations with national operations/or large divisional level, across multiple stakeholder groups.
Ability to direct, coordinate and manage multidisciplinary team initiatives and projects in a high-volume work area while managing competing priorities.
Application of WHS principles and practices to at least three of the following sectors: Higher Education, infrastructure/construction, health, science, engineering, and research.
