Salary Package: Senior Research Fellow (Level C) from $129,416 – $148,830 p.a, and Associate Professor (Level D) from $155,425 - $170,959 p.a, plus 17% employer"s superannuation and annual leave loading. Pro-rata rates apply for part-time appointments

About the Role
The role will be to join a vibrant and highly productive research Centre, the Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research (CHSSR) within the Australian Institute of Health Innovation. The successful applicant will participate in some specific research projects underway associated with our NHMRC Partnership Centre for Health Systems Sustainability (depending upon skills and expertise areas).  The candidate will also be responsible for initiating and conducting new research and securing funding for future research.  The research of the Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research is highly applied, multi-disciplinary and collaborative, and we are seeking someone who has initiative and would thrive in such an environment.
About You
The successful applicant will have excellent knowledge and experience in the Australian health care system; strong research methods skills (particularly quantitative statistical data analysis skills, conduct of trials, observational and clinician simulation studies etc) and have demonstrated the application of these skills through the design and conduct of large studies with resulting high impact publications.
Applicants must have a track record in securing substantial research grant funding as the lead investigator including category 1 funding. A strong publication track record relevant to the level being applied for is required.  We are also seeking applicants with evidence of an upward trajectory in their research outputs and impact. Demonstrated experience in building and leading your own research team, as well as the ability and interest in contributing more broadly across our research Centre and Institute is sought.

The Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research, one of the core research centres within Australian Institute of Health Innovation, has a multi-stream program of research which focuses on investigating the outcomes and safety of health services.  The Centre has particular expertise in assessing the impact of information technologies and investigating the role of electronic health records and decision support in supporting improved health care delivery and health outcomes.  The Centre’s research team is multi-disciplinary and applies a broad range of research techniques, from RCT designs to direct observational studies of clinical work.

Selection Criteria for Senior Research Fellow - Level C applicants:
Essential
A PhD in a relevant discipline
A good track record of publications in high quality journals and citations (as a broad indication, applicants would be expected to have an h-index of >15 with >40 publications, with a good number of first-authored papers)
A demonstrated ability to attract external funding for research as lead investigator on successful grants including category 1 (e.g. ARC, NHMRC) grants.
Excellent understanding and experience in the Australian health care system
Good experience in the application of a range of research methods (particularly quantitative data analyses)
Experience with successful higher degree research student supervision to completion
Selection Criteria for Associate Professor - Level D applicants:
Essential
A PhD in a relevant discipline
Currently leading an established program of research, with a national and/or international reputation, in a subject area related to the research programs of the Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research
A substantial record of publications in high quality journals and citations (as a broad indication, applicants would be expected to have an h-index >20 and >50 publications)
A strong track record of successful research grant applications for competitive research funding as lead investigator including category 1 funding (e.g. NHMRC and ARC)
Experience in the development of ongoing partnerships with industry and/or professional bodies
Experience in leading and building a research team
Experience with successful higher degree research student supervision to completion
