The Speech and Hearing Clinic is seeking an experienced part-time (4 days per week) Speech Pathologist/ Clinical Educator to provide high-quality, evidence-based speech pathology services to clients. This role covers a generalist adult and paediatric caseload at the Speech and Hearing Clinic (including NDIS participants), as well as acute inpatients of Macquarie University Hospital. The clinical areas of this role include acute care (tracheostomy, ICU admissions, cancer care) and sub-acute care (disability, rehabilitation, gender-affirming voice therapy).
This role also requires ongoing clinical education, with the successful applicant supervising up to 3 students at a time, ensuring students are equipped with professional and speech pathology practice competencies for best practice speech pathology services.

The MQ Health Speech and Hearing Clinic provides both a quality clinical service to the community and clinical education for students of the Master of Speech and Language Pathology, and Master of Clinical Audiology. The clinic offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and rehabilitative speech pathology and audiology services to people of all ages with speech and hearing difficulties. To be considered for this position, the applicant will demonstrate the below requirements in their CV and a 1 or 2 page cover letter:
Degree in Speech Pathology with Practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia
Demonstrated experience with assessment and intervention for adult acute and/or subacute communication and swallowing disorders.
Demonstrated experience with assessment and intervention for paediatric speech and language disorders.
Demonstrated experience with working with augmentative and alternative communication technology (either low tech or high tech)
Demonstrated experience delivering clinical education
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Proven ability to contribute to the improvement and operation of speech pathology service
Demonstrated understanding of professional code of ethics and relevant healthcare legislation
Desirable: experience in assessment and intervention for tracheostomy and instrumental swallow evaluation (videofluoroscopy and fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow)
Employment in this position is conditional upon holding a Working with Children Check Clearance and you providing evidence to satisfy the University that you meet the University’s requirements in relation to immunisation, where required, providing evidence from a registered general practitioner.
