The Faculty of Arts, School of Education is seeking an energetic Master Special Education Teacher to develop and manage the educational program for a class of K-2 children with a disability.
Salary Package: from $95,866 - $103,939 per annum (HEW Level 7), plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading
Appointment Type: Full time, 3-year fixed term contract

Macquarie University Special Education Centre
The MUSEC School is an independent K-6 School for Children with Special Learning Needs and provides onsite professional experience for postgraduate students in special education. Each of the four classes at the school is supported by a Master Special Education Teacher, a Special Education Teacher and at least one Teaching Assistant. In addition, classes are supported by one full time and one part time Speech Pathologist and a Visual Arts Teacher.
The Role
This is a unique role for a teacher with Special Education qualifications and experience. The Master Special Education Teacher manages the class team and develops and manages the individualised education programs for a class of up to 12 children with a disability.

About you
Your knowledge and understanding of best practice methodologies will be used to guide and coach postgraduate students on practical placement within the school. Your expertise and skills will contribute to the development and delivery of professional learning to peers and external professionals.
As part of the school’s leadership team you will mentor special education teachers within the school and make a significant contribution to initiatives and projects aligned to MUSEC’s objectives as a provider of evidence-based special education.

A recognised Special Education qualification
Accredited with the NSW Institute of Teachers
Demonstrated experience teaching special education
Demonstrated ability designing individualised programs for children with a range of disabilities.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
