Private Net is an Integrated Product Stream within Customer Provisioning primarily responsible for the end to end delivery of the Evolve IPVPN Product Suite. The team also deliver Connect Plus and other VPN related product and accesses on behalf of the Customer Facing Units, Optus Business, Small and Medium Business and Optus Wholesale.
The role of Network Engineer within Private Net will incorporate the design and activation of the Private Net suite of products and must demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in performing their duties, as there will be interactions with sensitive IP and Ethernet related systems, customer services and associated platforms.
The major challenge of this role will be to understand the various network elements and customer network configurations within the Optus network and to coordinate with multiple IPTs, Field Groups, CFU"s and CFU Interface teams to ensure all assigned customer services are tested in accordance with agreed procedures and standards and that customer commitments are met.
To meet this challenge and be effective in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

Experience in data communications, protocols and Telecommunications Standards
Experience in telecommunications transmission and digital switching systems
Degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant IT; Telecommunications or Engineering discipline
Minimum CCNA, JNCA or equivalent Knowledge, experience and understanding of TCP/IP
Sound administration and organisational skills/experience
Ability to manage own workload
Strong customer focus
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
The following skills and experience will also be highly regarded:

Solid experience in Telecommunications delivering IP VPN Solutions
Experience with the operations of telecommunications systems such as Cisco Routers, as well as experience in Switching systems
Knowledge of multiple technology platforms such as CISCO & Juniper Routers, Alcatel Frame Relay and ATM; DSL
Knowledge of HP Open view
