Minara Resources is a leading Nickel producer and one of the top ten in the world. Our Murrin Murrin operation is a world class hydrometallurgical project which includes the most complex ore processing plant in Australia. Our site is situated just over an hour"s flight from Perth in the Northern Goldfields.
The Role:
An exciting opportunity has become available for a suitably qualified Electrical Engineer to work across all areas of our Murrin Murrin processing plant which encompasses an Ore Leach area, Refinery area and a Utilities area with our own in-house power station, acid plant, H2S plant and reverse-osmosis water treatment facility. In this role, you will have full exposure to all facets of operations and maintenance of the hydrometallurgial plant and join a professional safety focused team.
Our power generation is in excess of 80 megawatts reticulated throughout the plant and village. We combine steam and gas turbines as well as diesel generation systems. As part of the Electrical Engineering team, you"ll provide an advisory service on asset acquisition, enhancement and replacement projects for electrical controls and power systems. Your scope of work will include completing engineering investigations and design reviews and occasionally undertaking the role of project manager for projects within your area of expertise.
Being a small team working in a large plant, you"ll gain hands on experience across the full spectrum of engineering, projects and design in a highly complex plant environment. You will work closely with the Control Systems and Electrical Maintenance teams and report directly to the Superintendent Electrical Engineering on site.
You:
The complexity of our plant means we need someone who has strong background knowledge to understand problems and the drive and determination to implement solutions.
You"ll need to be either able to demonstrate practical hands-on maintenance engineering experience, or have a solid electrical engineering background with strong desire to move into a more hands-on maintenance role.
We require the following qualifications/experience:
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Familiarity with HV design and switching procedures
- Control and instrumentation systems experience
- Previous exposure to a process environment
A basic understanding of electrical equipment in hazardous areas would be desirable, but is not essential
