Minara Resources is wholly owned by Glencore International and operates the Murrin Murrin Nickel Cobalt mining and refining project in the northern Goldfields region of Western Australia between the towns of Leonora and Laverton
Our Murrin Murrin Operations includes engineering complexity not present in the processing of other commodities such as iron ore, gold, coal or mineral sands which allows us to offer exceptional career growth and technical challenges.
As an owner-operator, we run our own Utilities department which incorporates a 78MW power station (including steam and gas turbines), a 4400TPD acid plant (the largest in the southern hemisphere), 6TPH H2S plant and a reverse osmosis water treatment plant which draws from our extensive bore fields. Our Ore Leach area utilises High Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) technology and our Refinery produces LME grade briquettes on site.
The Role:
With the majority of our engineering performed in-house, we currently require an experienced, self-motivated mechanical engineer to perform the role of Senior Reliability Engineer within our site-based Engineering department.
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Superintendent, The Senior Reliability Engineer coordinates and supports a team of over 10 area and reliability engineers and is primarily responsible for developing, maintaining and continuously optimizing equipment & systems across our complex hydrometallurgical process facility at Murrin Murrin
The key accountabilities for the Senior Reliability Engineer are to apply the principles of performance evaluation and life prediction to improve equipment & systems safety, performance, reliability and maintainability of the process plant.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Managing and mentoring a team of Reliability Maintenance Engineers along with a CM engineer, NDT contractors and QA/QC inspectors.
- Actively utilising the loss prevention and condition monitoring systems to ensure equipment optimisation.
- Developing equipment life strategies for new and existing equipment.
- Reviewing failure analysis trends to resolve performance and availability issues.
- Continually evolving critical maintenance strategies and planning effectiveness.
- Investigating plant failures, developing failure prevention strategies and engineering solutions.
- Assisting in the development of a robust and reliable facility.
To be considered, we require that you possess the following:
- A relevant Engineering degree
- Proven experience supporting Operations teams to achieve common goals.
- A strong focus on safety and risk assessment processes.
- Demonstrated understanding of Reliability principles such as RCM, RCA, FMCEA, PMO.
- The readiness to be recognised as a Site Champion of practical ideas for equipment reliability improvements.
- A sound knowledge of engineering and statutory design codes and compliance.
- Commitment to maintenance managements systems and shutdown scheduling processes.
- Auditing and investigation experience

This permanent position is available on an 8 days on/6 day off roster, FIFO from Perth.
