So wheres the challenge in a role like this, you might ask yourself? Well, the answer lies in taking this finance function and the role of CFO to the next level of its natural evolution - that being a commercial business partner to the CEO and the executive leadership team.
This role is best suited to an aspiring CFO rather than an established senior finance executive because of the requirement for "hands-on" accounting mixed with the emerging focus on providing commercial insight and support to the broader management group.
A background in manufacturing and distribution is essential. Familiarity with standard and activity based costing, supply chain and inventory management, product pricing and cost recovery will allow the successful candidate to make an immediate impact on the business.
