Forestry Tasmania will be an internationally competitive forest land manager, with operations based on sustainable, multiple-use forest management. Forestry Tasmania has the statutory responsibility for the management of 1.5 million hectares of State forest land. This land contains 39% of Tasmanias forests. About half the forest managed by Forestry Tasmania are available for sustainable timber production.
