Raytheon is currently offering an exciting and unique opportunity for a Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team at the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap, Alice Springs.
The Refrigeration Mechanic performs the maintenance and repair of large chillers, refrigeration equipment and residential air conditioning systems. Scope of work will range from repair and replacement of smaller systems to major maintenance of larger chiller systems.
Work will be performed at JDFPG, as well as houses and other facilities in the town of Alice Springs as required.
Overtime and callouts will be required.
The responsibilities of the Refrigeration Mechanic include:
• Perform maintenance tasks as required; either programmed (planned) maintenance or repairs.
• Perform tasks for project type work as required.
• Knowledge of proper storage, handling and disposal procedures for refrigerants.
• Perform planning of tools, equipment, assistance and materials needed to complete tasks.
• Liaise with others to notify and organize tasks to be undertaken as required.
• Ensure as much as possible that equipment is maintained to operate in a safe manner.
• Report any incidents to Management as a priority.
• Use of computer systems to record and plan work tasks.
• Work as part of a team.
• Assist in all areas of Facilities Maintenance from time to time as required.
Essential qualifications and experience
• Australian Citizenship.
• Trade Qualification: Refrigeration Mechanic
• Current NT Driver’s Licence.
• ARCTICK Licence or ability to obtain a licence.
• Demonstrated 3-5 years experience in new construction and industrial maintenance work.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and organize tasks.
• Training and experience in refrigerant recovery.
• Understanding of EH&S procedures.
• Knowledge of the environmental impacts and legislative requirements regarding ozone depleting substances.
• Able to work professionally with minimal supervision.
The following attributes will be considered highly favourable
• ‘A’ Grade Electrician or Restricted Electrical Licence.
• Training in appropriate safety procedures (i.e. Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tagout, Working in Trenches, etc).
• Demonstrated experience in working on remote self sufficient sites.
• Trade Qualification: Gas Fitting.
• Commitment to self-improvement with the focus on qualifications/skills update and contemporary industry practices.
• Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT
It is a condition of employment at JDFPG that ATOM employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. Employees may be required to obtain a security clearance up to and including a Top Secret (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance.
