POSITION OVERVIEW

Due to our recent growth and continued success, Raytheon Australia now has a requirement for Radar Engineering Officer to join our team in our Murarrie office.
BASIC FUNCTION
Performs Design Development and Independent Design Review of designs in accordance with the Engineering Management System (EMS) within the assigned level and scope of Engineering Authority (EA).
Work environment is a small design team with a workforce that is occasionally supplemented with contract engineers, tradesmen and draftsmen to meet peaks in workload. Also involves working in maintenance facilities to oversee WLR refurbishment, and in and around military vehicles to conduct surveys, fit checks and to oversee modification installations.
Scope of work is development of modification design data packs in support of the Land 58-3 project and performing overflow work from other Raytheon Australia sites when capacity allows.
Responsibilities (not exhaustive):
Perform assigned design tasks in accordance with the EMS, including:
design Radar System modifications;
oversee manufacture and testing of engineering prototypes and production items;
perform independent design review of designs; and
provide technical guidance and direction to other Raytheon Australia technical staff where appropriate.
Ensure that Project Managers are kept informed of any design issues that may impact on progression of programs, covering but not limited to the areas of schedule, cost and specification in accordance with their reasonable level of understanding.
Ensure sub-contracted work for design development and manufacture is performed to the required standards.
Assist the Director Engineering, Aerospace to develop and maintain the EMS documented in the Engineering Management Plan (EMP), procedures and manuals.
Assist with business development activities, including tender/quotation preparation and associated workload estimation.
Actively participate in Raytheon Australia’s Quality Management System.
Carry out other tasks as assigned by the Director Engineering, Aerospace.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
Tertiary qualifications in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or professional development sufficient to satisfy the entry requirements for Chartered (engineering associate officer) membership in Engineers Australia
Radar maintenance experience, preferably on military systems
Desirable:
Certificate IV in an electrical or radar technician trade
Experience in Systems Integration, including relevant experience in Design Development and Design Review in the field of radar.
Design experience within their discipline on either civilian or military systems or preferably both.
Commercial engineering experience, preferably on Defence systems.
Military aircraft logistics management experience.
ISO 9000 auditor or quality manager experience.
Successful applicants will be assessed on their organisational suitability to work in a security environment. Security clearance may be required.
