Ref. 21341 - Centre Manager for MQRC in Language Sciences - As the Centre Manager for MQRC in Language Sciences (and Research Programme Coordinator for the Hearing CRC) you will be responsible for 60% of your time for coordinating the various administrative and research activities of the Macquarie University Research Centre (MQRC) in Language Sciences, including: induction and oversight of new staff, students and visitors; assisting with VISA applications for new staff and students; compiling and editing centre reports for internal purposes; managing media relations (internal and external); organizing internal and external events for both the Centre and the Hearing CRC; monitoring the centre website for research activities and assisting in its revision; serving as centre contact person for University research personnel; disseminating information to postgraduate students regarding applications, scholarships, research and degree requirements; developing, reviewing and revising academic and administrative policies in consultation with the Centre Director. In regards to coordination of HEARing CRC activities, which will account for 40% of your time, you will: coordinate resources, including staff, to projects at Macquarie; assist Project Leaders in compiling and editing Hearing CRC reports as are required for its purposes and ensuring that reporting deadlines are met; liaise with other organisations involved in Hearing CRC projects as required; assist in the annual reviews of projects and any special reviews of research projects within the HEARing CRC; and provide other such coordination as may be required by the HEARing CRC CEO and senior Macquarie staff in regards to HEARing CRC research projects. Essential Selection Criteria: Tertiary qualifications; excellent writing skills (e.g., in generating annual reports, project descriptions); experience in event planning; ability to keep to deadlines and complete assigned tasks; knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet management; knowledge of basic financial management; ability to work independently, and to work closely with others; ability to accrue detailed knowledge of University academic and administrative policies; experience in task management in a research environment Desirable Selection Criteria: Knowledge of University and external grant schemes; knowledge of research tools (e.g., SPSS); understanding of postgraduate research protocols (e.g., application and degree process, graduation requirements). The appointment is currently governed by the terms of the Macquarie University Enterprise Agreement 2006-2009.
