Raytheon is currently offering an exciting and unique opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team at the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap, Alice Springs.
The role of the Registered Nurse is a complementary role to that of the Facility Medical Officer, Contract Medical Officer, Physicians Assistant-Certified and Psychologists. The Registered Nurse allows for an increased variety of services utilising a combination of direct clinical patient care and management of clinical care systems. The Registered Nurse is required to work within a multidisciplinary team within the medical clinic, the facility and the community, as well as working independently. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap provides medical care for all employees and their eligible dependents. The JDFPG operates two medical clinics, one located in Alice Springs and the other located on the JDFPG site. The Registered Nurse is expected to work at both clinics, rotating as required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Infection control - adhere to National and Territory infection control guidelines.
Sterilisation - maintenance of sterilisation procedures.
Collaborate with National and Territory Registries e.g. Pap smears, immunisations.
Patient education - leaflets, videos, posters, health promotion and opportunistic patient education.
Administration - medical records management, data entry, appointment scheduling, etc.
Immunisations - adult and children vaccinations as per US and Australian schedules, travel vaccinations and advice, etc.
Manage and maintain all emergency equipment - ensure thorough knowledge of all emergency equipment, location and use.
Liaison with emergency services, Alice Springs Hospital, Community Health Centre and community resources as required.
Conduct triage and comprehensive assessment on an individual or groups presenting to the medical clinic or via the phone.
Medical emergency - assessment and relevant management of patient presentation(s).
Continual revision of current practices to meet with new guidelines, standards or to improve efficiency.
Participation in the planning, conducting and monitoring of emergency mock drills and disaster preparedness exercises.
Maintain patient and clinic confidentiality at all times.
Conduct preventative health screening as per US and Australian guidelines.
Involvement with the implementation of the RACGP standards and updating of the medical clinics policies and procedures.
Continuation of professional education.
Essential qualifications and experience:
• Knowledge of Australian medical and nursing guidelines and standards.
• Minimum 4 years post-graduate nursing experience.
• Experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of health and medical programs for routine and emergency situations.
• High-level of communication (written and verbal), teamwork and interpersonal skills.
The following attributes will be considered highly favourable:
• Previous General Practice or Community Health nursing experience.
• Knowledge of basic computer applications e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and data entry.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT
It is a condition of employment at JDFPG that ATOM employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. Employees may be required to obtain a security clearance up to and including a Top Secret (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance.
