Graduate Winemaker - Job Ref. No. 0002 --> Job Title Graduate Winemaker Company Stuart Wines Company Job description Graduate Winemaker Applications are invited from recent graduates for this role based in the fast-expanding Heathcote region, just a couple of hours north of Melbourne. Working for a family-owned winery with an annual crush of around 1000 tonnes from Heathcote and the Yarra Valley, this permanent position encompasses the entire range of cellar operations from vine to packaged product to paracetamol and multi-vitamins, and represents a great opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in a premium winemaking facility. Working as part of our small team you will be encouraged to taste everything as often as possible, and to become fully involved in all aspects of our winemaking process. We\"ve got heaps of varieties (meunier, pinot noir, chardonnay, semillon, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris, viognier, sangiovese, nebbiolo, tempranillo, syrah/shiraz, mourvedre/mataro, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot) and like to think we make some interesting booze. The person we are looking for is a top-quality recent graduate and experience is not a prerequisite; we\"re basically after somebody who is pretty relaxed, well-adjusted, hard-working and versatile. The ability to remain cheerful and calm under stressful conditions/stupidly long hours is really important, as is the ability to get on with a wide range of people. Strong written and verbal English skills would be handy as the Senior Winemaker dislikes writing tasting notes, and being able to fix stuff (or at the very least not break stuff) would be great too. Common sense and a logical, methodical outlook are both highly valued and attention to detail is absolutely crucial. Temporary accomodation is available on site, starting date is flexible (although soon would be good), and if you want to head overseas for a northern hemisphere vintage we should be able to fit in with that too. A three month trial period will be used to make sure that you\"re not Norman Bates, we like people who like cheese but poor taste in music is frowned upon, and the ability to grow a strong vintage beard is held in high regard; for female applicants this requirement may be waived, but it is recommended as a deterrent for the sometimes slightly-too-friendly local farmers. Please apply to wineryposition@gmail.com with a cover letter, CV and academic details.
