Position overview
ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the Research School of Psychology, the ANU Medical School, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the Research School of Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.  
The 2019 ANU Grand Challenge will focus on research that has a positive impact on Indigenous Health and Wellbeing (IHW). This collaborative Grand Challenge will be an Indigenous-led, cross-ANU research initiative aiming to address Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing across diverse disciplines and with external stakeholders. 
The Chief Operations Officer will work in consultation with the Project Lead to develop the strategy for the initiative and will be responsible for the operational management and administrative leadership of the Indigenous Health and Wellbeing Grand Challenge. They will work closely with the IHW Executive Committee, ensure compliance with the Grand Challenge Governance Board and will be responsible for the management of internal and external stakeholders to provide effective communication and hi-impact outcomes by the Grand Challenge team. 
The suitable candidate will have relevant experience in roles of this nature and is a proven leader in building and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships. They will have hands on experience in the successful delivery of projects, and will be able to manage budgets to the quality expectation of multiple stakeholders. They will have outstanding communication skills, will be hard working and not afraid to "roll up their sleeves" to get the job done. Experience with research contract management and intellectual property management in a University context will be highly regarded.
