Duties:– As a member of Child and Family Services the Child Protection Worker is responsible for the safety and well-being of children and young persons. The Child Protection Worker is responsible for the provision of assessment, advice and referral services, case management services and placements outside the child/young person’s home. The role of the Child Protection Worker is to provide professional services in accordance with legislation, practice guidelines, policies and procedures and by applying professional judgment to ensure that services are delivered in the best interest of the child/young person and their family.
Essential Requirements:– A Bachelor of Social Work or a Diploma of Community Welfare Work or other tertiary qualifications at Diploma or above level which include units of study in case management/casework practice and supervised practical work placements in relevant fields. The Commissioner has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted.
1) Conviction check for: a) Crimes of violence; b) Sex related offences; c) Serious Drug Offences; and d) Crimes involving dishonesty.
2) Identification check.
3) Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
