Metro Trains operates and maintains Melbourne’s busy suburban train network. Successfully transporting over 400 000 passengers per day is achieved by our large dedicated workforce. The Infrastructure Division is at the forefront of maintaining and renewing our network and is currently seeking a Technical Lead Third Party Works - Signals to join the Infrastructure Signalling Team.       The position: This role will be utilised to ensure support works to Signals EWNO"s (Extended Weeknight Occupations) are completed within the timelines and to provide the required reporting on work progress to ensure efficient hand back of occupation for trains to commence running, on time. The successful applicant will provide a means of getting regular reports on work progress in EWNOs & Weekend Occupations to ensure sufficient Signals staff are positioned to give required support to track maintenance works.This position requires some weekend shift work on a rotational basis. Duties and responsibilities:

Provide technical expertise in maintenance, renewals, upgrades and constructions works
Seek and implement innovative methods of improving production and safety
Support the delivery of works by assisting with planning, project management, work methodology and implementation of works on site to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely and complies with designs and Metro Trains’ standards
Ensure works are completed in accordance with the Technical Maintenance Plan and/or the Annual Works Plan
Monitor the quality of works undertaken and ensure corrective actions are undertaken where deficiencies are identified
Carry out investigations as required  and review and manage all investigation reports within their area of expertise
Identify and support Engineering in type approvals of all infrastructure assets
Perform risk assessments of processes, work practices, materials, suppliers and innovations  to ensure work is delivered as efficiently and safely as possible

 Qualifications, skills and experience:

Technical tertiary qualification or Certificate IV in a designated rail related discipline - mandatory
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the rail or related industry – mandatory
