Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) is a multi-award winning organisation and we pride ourselves on our team of high performing professionals who are talented, inclusive and safety focused. Position purpose: The successful Project Managers (2) will join our team in the Signalling department of Metro Infrastructure Division. Production Managers implement Infrastructure maintenance, renewals, upgrades, construction requirements and installation methods as safely and efficiently as possible. These positions will provide much needed relief for existing Production Managers who currently cover afternoon and evening shifts on a rotating roster.  These roles will work exclusively on PM peak and overnight rosters and will manage reactive faults, maintenance, signal service and support works as well as signals renewals works. Please note: Successful applicants will be rostered permanently (subject to change) on one of the two rosters below:

2pm – 10pm
10pm – 6am

 Main duties and responsibilities:

Manage responses to signals faults and network disruptions
Impliment continuous improvement to improve the reliability of the signalling network
Ensure adequate resources and equipment is available for all works including emergency conditions to restore services within critical timeframes
Prioritise and manage the rectification of defects
Assist with signal and track renewal works
Ensure correct tools and equipment are appropriately audited, certified, maintained and utilised for work and all equipment, materials and emergency items are assembled and accessible on the job
Implement Infrastructure maintenance, renewals, upgrades and construction requirements and installation methods
Manage additional contract resources in order to deliver works including requisition, procurement, and cost analysis in line with budget, performance, safety and quality in accordance with Metro’s contractor management procedures

Qualifications, skills and experience:

Associate Diploma of Engineering or equivalent qualification – desirable
Experience within the rail industry – mandatory
Extensive experience in leading and supervising a team – mandatory
Sound knowledge of the safety requirements of working in the rail and/or maintenance industry
Ability to undertake work shift duties on a 24 hour 7 day a week roster and work reasonable overtime as required and respond to after hour emergencies
Ability to lead a significant step change in HSE improvement beyond just compliance
