The Metro Tunnel Project will deliver more frequent services for passengers by unlocking the City Loop and introducing new technology and infrastructure that will transform our network.
About the project: The Metro Tunnel Project is being delivered in three work packages, with a program level team assisting each package. The three work packages are: Rail Systems Alliance, Rail Infrastructure Alliance and the Tunnels and Stations Public Private Partnership. This role will be working as part of the Safety, Environment, Risk & Quality (SERQ) Team on a Program Level.
About the role:
Reporting to the SERQ Manager for Rail Projects Victoria Program (RPVP), you will be responsible for facilitating a seamless relationship with RPV to achieve continuous reduction of MTM"s risk exposure and providing a safe outcome to the Project where accreditation requirements are also achieved effectively. Core responsibilities of your role will include the following:
Coordinate and advise on environmental and sustainability requirements, develop and implement the strategies/initiatives
Provide direction and support to develop and implement adequate constructability controls when such environmentally relevant construction requirements may impact on MTM operations
Support PM’s in reviewing contractor works and implementing controls to manage environmental hazards on site
Attend sites as required to assist the project team prepare environmental investigations, and monitor environmental performance
Conduct site inspections to monitor the effective implementation of environmental and sustainability policy and procedures, and prepare and issue Environment Inspection Reports
Create an audit schedule and undertake program level environmental audit
Capture and manage environmental risks derived from associated or similar projects to establish lessons learned, identify commonalities and maintain continuous improvement
About your experience:
Tertiary qualification in environmental engineering/science or a related discipline is essential
2 to 5 years’ experience in establishing, implementing and monitoring effective environmental management systems & procedures
Good working knowledge of environmental legislative requirements is essential
Strong skills in incident investigation and analysis will be highly preferred
