Executive Level 2: $122,095 - $141,141 per annum (plus superannuation)

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has a vacancy for a Director (Executive Level 2) for our National Learning and Capability Development (NLCD) team. This is a permanent, ongoing role, located in either our Brisbane or Canberra office.
About the area
The Director of National Learning and Capability Development exists in the People Services Branch of our People, Capability and Communication Division, whose purpose is to drive transformation through cultural change, building partnerships and delivering efficient and fit-for-purpose services, advice and support.
The People Services Branch consists of over 100 staff working across the following sections/ teams: Workplace Relations, Pay and Entitlements Section, People Management and Wellbeing, People Strategies and Inclusion, Workforce Management, National Recruitment Unit, National Learning and Capability Development and the Business Centre.

About the role
The NLCD Director leads and manages a geographically dispersed team that identifies organisational learning and development needs and develops, delivers and evaluate relevant strategies and programs, such as:
• Statistical Capability • annual Graduate Development Program• mandatory induction and recurring learning suite • coaching and mentoring programs• people and leadership programs • Capability Framework• Statistical Business Transformation training support.
As the successful candidate you will have demonstrated experience in identifying learning needs and partnering with management and senior leaders to develop innovative learning and development strategies and programs to meet the ABS’s current and future business needs.
In this position, you will be accountable for:
• Leading and managing a geographically dispersed team to develop clear strategic objectives ensuring programs are fit for purpose and serve as a key driver for performance and career development outcomes.• Leading and managing planning, stakeholder engagement and implementation of programs to build organisational effectiveness and achieve successful cultural change.• Building excellent relationships and trust through sound and timely advice to a range of internal and external clients and stakeholders.• Preparing executive briefings and strategic support on organisational capability related matters.• Exploring opportunities for innovation and business process improvements.
