You will be joining an organisation that is known as a global leader in its field but also prides itself on being dynamic, progressive and providing real work/life balance to their employees.Position Purpose:Support the Infrastructure Manager by undertaking specific elements or work packages undertaken by the State, Metro Trains (as the franchisee) or Third Parties (within the Metro Trains lease), are designed, reviewed and delivered in compliance with the technical standards of Metro Trains and the functional operating requirements of the business. Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Infrastructure Manager with the preparation of scope documentation for specific activities/works and progress the engagement of the contractor/supplier, including tendering, evaluation contract award
Assist the Infrastructure Manager with the submission of the OCMS Monthly Report to MTM management
Develop reports and associated tools to identify and correct problem areas
Identify work practices, methods and activities that can be altered or improved
Assist in the creation of the IT Infrastructure architectural roadmap
Provide high level designs and detailed designs for new initiatives relating to IT Infrastructure
Mentor and upskill team members in areas of expertise
Advise and consult to business stakeholders around best practices in IT Infrastructure in order to support new initiatives
Act as an escalation point for all major incidents
Liaise with external 3rd party vendors to assist in execution of project / operational activities
Liaise with external 3rd party suppliers to educate and uplift skills
Lead the detailed planning for specific project activities, as assigned by the Infrastructure Manager
Manage all aspects of allocated projects in conjunction with relevant stakeholders and contractors to progress projects to implementation and commissioning
Liaise with various internal groups where input is required to the works and to ensure a smooth handover of the final project and any relevant staging works, and  assist the Contractor(s) in the completion of the Works
Manage individual packages of work on the project, as assigned by the Infrastructure Manager, through the complete project life cycle
Ensure the integrity of the operating system is not compromised during the project
Manage the handover process at project completion ensuring that all the key stakeholders are involved and that project documentation is completed in accordance with procedures
Manage the receipt of design information and drawings, including ensuring that a current drawing register is maintained and that the documentation is issued to all the relevant parties
Manage the Request For Information process ensuring that there is the appropriate technical input (from others) to the query and that there is a timely response
Undertake assigned work duties to ensure their completion on time, within budget, with all project risks mitigated and effect on train operations whilst ensuring that construction standards are maintained and conform to safety, reliability and quality
Work with multi-discipline teams, coordinating inputs and reaching a decision for the benefit of the project
Mentor team members in all things relating to IT Infrastructure technology and processes.

Skills & Capabilities:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in an enterprise Windows system administration role (>1000 users)
Extensive experience in the management, configuration, administration of Microsoft Enterprise Platforms (5+ Years) namely Active Directory, Exchange, Clustering, Systems Management and related products
Experience with Cisco network equipment and advanced networking concepts
Advanced experience with Virtualisation Platforms ie Vmware & HyperV, including resource/capacity management and planning.
Extensive experience with technical architecture and technical support documentation
Proven experience in leading complex defect troubleshooting and resolution

 Education/Experience:

Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology (Telecommunications, Computer Systems) or equivalent recognised by industry standards
