POSITION SUMMARY
 





 
The purpose of this role is to provide high level technical design, consultancy, advice and expertise in the commercial adoption of ICT solutions and services to Sales Executives and customers and to assist in the development of long term profitable business relationships.
 
The Solution Consultant will be responsible for feeding back to the sales arena technical developments and needs within customer networks, supporting national, state government and complex major accounts whose communications needs require sophisticated and innovative integrated systems support in a range of technologies. Covering both technical and sales issues the Solution Consultant  focus will be in the areas including managed services, whole of business, data and IP services,  and voice solutions incorporating inbound and outbound requirements. They will act as a technical partner to decision makers in designated high-end Optus Business accounts.

Keep abreast of product, market and technology changes to be used within strategic customer interaction


Effectively managing conflicting priorities


Demonstrate technical and consultancy skills through the presentation of regular training sessions and customer presentations


Demonstrate high level of project management capabilities (both financial and operational)
 

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Education level, knowledge and work/industry experience

 


As this is a specialist consultative role, demonstrable experience in the development of long term business relationships and development of strategic sales plans are essential.  This experience could be gained in other key industries, such as banking, insurance, government, retail or distribution.
 

Tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline (either Telecommunications or Information Technology) or relevant and equivalent experience.
 


Broad-based ICT systems and solutions design background.

Suitable business qualifications.
 
 


Professional/technical skills

 


Extensive working experience in a similar industry (ie. Telecommunications, Data Networking or other relevant high tech area)  in the provision of technical advice in relationship and strategic sales environments. Some of this work experience must be in a ICT user (non supplier)  environment.

 
Professional affiliations to industry bodies such as IEEE
 


Ability to recognise, analyse and articulate the technical, business and commercial applications of data, with an emphasis on e-business and ICT technologies.

 
Experience with appropriate sales tools, CRM packages and job management systems.
