The role
In this role you will facilitate effective and sustainable change in families experiencing multiple and complex needs to minimise or prevent a family from entering or re-entering the statutory child protection system. 
Key responsibilities will include:
Delivering an outreach model of case-management to families, caregivers, children and young people
Working with vulnerable families to address multiple and/or complex needs and build their capacity to safely care for and protect their children
Actively engage with families to explore mutual obligations, complete forms and develop collaborative goals from a strengths based, trauma informed, family focused practice framework
Engage with families to understand their needs and create linkages into the community; work collaboratively to link with other professionals and agencies to ensure family goals are met
Provide in-home interventions and practical strategies to achieve positive long term outcomes with families to strengthen the care and protection of children
Deliver clinical or therapeutic services including family mediation, parenting, anger management, domestic intervention programs and more
Create a single case plan per family detailing goals, expected outcomes, responsibilities and time frames and, maintain individualised case management files for clients in line with organisational/legislative requirements
Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, community, government and non-government services
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology or related field
Demonstrated understanding of Early intervention principles and experience in family intervention activities, working with families with multiple and complex needs
At least 2 years experience providing case management and therapeutic services to children and families within a Child Protection Practice framework
An understanding of current child protection legislation and policy reforms
A high level of referral, advocacy and case management skills
Cultural awareness and an understanding of how to communicate and work effectively with families from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Experience working with families experiencing issues of mental health, drug and alcohol, disability, family and domestic violence or other significant child protection concerns will be highly regarded
Senior first aid certificate, or willingness to apply for one
Current drivers licence
